What Our Patients Say

Real stories from patients across Central Asia, Africa, and the Middle East

AK
Aziz K.
Uzbekistan · Cardiac Bypass Surgery

"When my cardiologist told me I needed urgent open-heart surgery, I was desperate — local options in Tashkent were either unavailable or unaffordable. A family friend who had been through Global Health Bridge referred me, and within a week, my coordinator Priya had arranged everything: the visa, BLK-Max Hospital in Delhi, and accommodation for my wife. The surgery was a success, and it cost 80% less than the European quote I had received. Six months on, I am fully recovered and back at work — I owe them my life."

AO
Amina O.
Nigeria · Breast Cancer Treatment

"Receiving a cancer diagnosis was the most terrifying moment of my life. I did not know where to turn, but Global Health Bridge matched me with the oncology team at Fortis Hospital within days. The doctors were world-class — they explained every step of my chemotherapy and surgery with such clarity. My coordinator translated everything patiently and was available at any hour. Being so far from home was hard, but the GHB team made me feel like I had family with me every single day. My latest scans are clear, and I returned home stronger than I left."

DT
Dilnoza T.
Kazakhstan · IVF & Fertility Treatment

"My husband and I had been trying to have a child for four years. When we finally decided to seek treatment abroad, the sheer number of options felt overwhelming — until we found Global Health Bridge. They matched us with a fertility clinic in Delhi with cutting-edge technology and a dedicated embryologist. Throughout the process, our coordinator kept us informed and calm. I am now expecting our first child. We will be forever grateful to the entire GHB team."

JM
James M.
Kenya · Bilateral Knee Replacement

"As a retired teacher, I had suffered with severe arthritis in both knees for years. The cost of bilateral knee replacement back home was completely out of reach. Global Health Bridge arranged my entire journey to Max Hospital Saket — flights, accommodation, hospital admission, and the post-operative care plan. I am now walking without pain for the first time in nearly a decade. The tele-consultation follow-ups they arranged after I returned to Nairobi were especially reassuring."

FR
Fatima Al-R.
Iraq · Liver Transplant Coordination

"When our father was told he needed a liver transplant, our family was in a desperate state. Global Health Bridge coordinated directly with the transplant team at BLK-Max Hospital, handled all the visa paperwork for four family members, and arranged a dedicated Arabic-speaking interpreter throughout our stay. It was an incredibly complex journey, but the GHB team never once made us feel alone. They were with us at every turn — and today, our father is home and recovering well."

About Global Health Bridge

A structured, ethical, and transparent international patient support platform — connecting patients with world-class healthcare in India.

Bridging the Gap in Global Healthcare

Many countries across Central Asia and Africa are witnessing a rapid rise in non-communicable diseases such as cancer, organ failure, cardiovascular conditions, and musculoskeletal disorders. While local healthcare systems are actively evolving, access to advanced tertiary and quaternary medical care remains a near-term challenge for many patients.

India has emerged as a globally trusted healthcare destination — offering internationally comparable clinical expertise, near-zero waiting times, and substantially lower treatment costs. Complex treatments in India can be up to 90% more affordable than many Western countries, while maintaining high standards of care.

Global Health Bridge was founded to build a structured, ethical, and transparent pathway that enables planned cross-border medical care — complementing local healthcare systems, not replacing them.

"To ensure every patient has access to safe, timely, and well-coordinated treatment — regardless of where they live."

We work collaboratively with governments, healthcare institutions, NGOs, and ecosystem partners who share a common objective of improving patient access to quality care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about medical travel to India and how Global Health Bridge supports you.

Global Health Bridge is an international patient facilitation company. We connect patients from Central Asia, Africa, and other regions with JCI and NABH-accredited hospitals in India. We manage every aspect of your medical journey — from case evaluation and hospital matching to visa support, travel arrangements, and post-treatment follow-up. We are not a hospital or a medical provider; we are your dedicated patient support partner.
The initial case evaluation and consultation is completely free. Our service fees depend on the level of support package you choose. We are fully transparent about our charges before you commit to anything. There are no hidden fees — ever.
We primarily serve patients from Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) and African countries (Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and others). We welcome patients from all countries — if you are looking for high-quality, affordable medical care in India, we can help.
We match patients to hospitals based on several factors: the specific medical condition and treatment required, the hospital's specialist expertise and track record in that area, your budget, your personal preferences, and the availability of the right specialist. We only work with JCI and NABH accredited hospitals, so clinical quality is guaranteed across all our partners.
Absolutely. In fact, we actively encourage second opinions. Our team coordinates remote second opinion consultations with specialist doctors at our partner hospitals. You can receive a specialist review of your medical reports without traveling to India first. This helps you make an informed decision about whether to proceed with treatment.
Treatment costs in India are typically 60–90% lower than comparable treatment in Western countries such as the UK, USA, or Germany. For example, a knee replacement that might cost USD 30,000 in the US can be performed in India for USD 5,000–8,000 at a JCI-accredited hospital. We provide you with a full cost estimate before you make any decision.
India's leading hospitals are internationally accredited and staffed by doctors who are often trained in the UK, USA, and Europe. Our partner hospitals — including BLK-Max, Max Saket, and Fortis — appear on international hospital ranking lists. India has near-zero waiting times for elective procedures compared to many countries with public health systems.
Yes — India offers a specific Medical Visa (MED Visa) for patients traveling for medical treatment, and an MED-X Visa for accompanying attendants. Our team guides you through the entire application process, helps prepare all required documents, and coordinates with the treating hospital for invitation letters and medical documentation needed for the visa application.
Yes. Up to two attendants can accompany a patient on a Medical Attendant Visa (MED-X). We coordinate accommodation for patients and their attendants and ensure both are well-supported throughout the stay.
We arrange airport reception and ground transportation directly from the airport to your hospital or accommodation. A dedicated care coordinator greets you and remains your point of contact for the duration of your stay in India. We handle all logistics so you can focus entirely on your treatment and recovery.
Yes. We provide interpreter support throughout your stay — at the airport, during hospital consultations, and at your accommodation. We currently support patients in Arabic, French, Swahili, Russian, and English.
We coordinate comfortable accommodation close to the hospital for patients and their attendants. Options range from guest houses to serviced apartments depending on your budget and preference.
Absolutely. We work with accommodation providers and local services that can cater to a range of dietary needs — including Halal, vegetarian, and other specific requirements.
We arrange a dedicated pickup from the airport on your arrival day. All ground transport — to and from the hospital, accommodation, and within the city — is coordinated by our team.
Our support does not end at discharge. Under our Comprehensive Care package, we coordinate post-return tele-consultations with your treating specialist, liaise with your local doctors to share discharge summaries and treatment records, and assist with rehabilitation planning. We believe continuity of care is as important as the treatment itself.
Yes — where needed and requested by the patient, our trained care professionals, including nurses and physiotherapists, can accompany you back to your home country and continue care during recovery. This service is subject to visa requirements for the destination country, and documentation support will be needed. Our team will guide you through what is required.
Getting started is simple and free. You can fill out our contact form on the website, send us a WhatsApp message, or email us directly. Share a brief description of your condition and any relevant medical reports. Our team will review your case and get back to you within 24–48 hours with initial guidance — at no cost.

Cost & Planning

How Much Does Treatment in India Cost Compared to the UK, US & Europe?

March 28, 2026 · 6 min read

For the vast majority of international patients who travel to India for medical care, the single most compelling reason is cost. Treatment in India at a JCI-accredited hospital can cost 60–90% less than equivalent care in the United Kingdom, United States, or Western Europe — without any meaningful sacrifice in quality, technology, or clinical outcomes. Understanding exactly how these savings break down, and what additional expenses to budget for, is essential to planning your medical journey.

Procedure Cost Comparison: India vs. UK, USA & UAE

The table below uses representative mid-range figures from published hospital rates and industry sources. Actual costs vary by hospital, complexity, and individual patient needs — Global Health Bridge provides a personalised cost estimate before you commit to anything.

Procedure India (USD) UK (USD) USA (USD) UAE (USD)
Cardiac Bypass Surgery $5,000–12,000 $25,000–40,000 $70,000–150,000 $20,000–35,000
Knee Replacement (per knee) $4,000–8,000 $15,000–25,000 $30,000–50,000 $12,000–22,000
IVF (single cycle) $2,500–5,000 $8,000–15,000 $12,000–25,000 $7,000–14,000
Liver Transplant $25,000–40,000 $130,000–200,000 $300,000–500,000 $80,000–130,000
Cancer Chemotherapy (per cycle) $700–2,500 $5,000–12,000 $8,000–30,000 $4,000–10,000

Why Is Treatment in India So Much Cheaper?

The cost differential is not a sign of inferior care. It is the result of structural economic factors that make high-quality healthcare inherently more affordable in India:

Lower operational overheads. Real estate, nursing staff, administrative costs, and equipment maintenance are a fraction of what they cost in the UK or US — even at hospitals that meet the same JCI accreditation standards as the world's best.

Purchasing power parity. India's lower cost of living means that highly trained doctors, nurses, and specialists are compensated at internationally competitive rates that are still far below Western salary scales — without any compromise in their qualifications or experience.

No litigation-driven pricing. In the United States especially, medical costs are heavily inflated by malpractice insurance premiums and defensive medicine practices. India's legal and insurance framework does not impose the same cost burden on healthcare providers.

Government policy support. India has actively promoted medical tourism as a strategic sector, with supportive visa policies, hospital accreditation frameworks, and infrastructure investment that make the ecosystem highly efficient.

Hidden Costs to Factor In

Even with India's lower treatment costs, a complete budget for your medical journey should account for the following:

  • Flights: Return flights from Central Asia typically cost USD 300–700; from West Africa, USD 600–1,200. Book early and through your coordinator for best rates.
  • Accommodation: Budget USD 30–80/night for a quality serviced apartment near the hospital. For longer stays (transplants, chemotherapy cycles), GHB negotiates extended stay rates.
  • Companion visa & travel: India allows up to 2 medical attendants on a MED-X visa. Factor in their flights and accommodation.
  • Post-treatment medication: Prescription drugs in India are significantly cheaper than at home — typically 60–80% less — so stock up before you return.
  • Follow-up telemedicine: GHB arranges remote consultations with your treating physician after you return home, included in most packages.

Full Cost Transparency with Global Health Bridge

One of the most common fears for international patients is receiving a bill that is far higher than the original quote. Global Health Bridge works only with hospitals that provide fixed treatment estimates upfront, covering surgeon fees, anaesthesia, theatre costs, ward charges, and standard post-operative care.

Before you book a single flight, we provide you with a complete cost breakdown — treatment, accommodation, logistics, and our service fee — so there are no surprises. If costs change due to medical complications, we notify you immediately and explain every line item.

How to Get a Medical Visa for India: A Step-by-Step Guide for International Patients

April 3, 2026 · 5 min read

India offers a dedicated Medical Visa — known as the MED Visa — specifically designed for international patients travelling to receive medical treatment at recognised hospitals. Unlike a standard tourist visa, the MED Visa is valid for up to one year, allows multiple entries, and can be extended within India if your treatment requires a longer stay. Understanding the process, and having the right documents prepared, makes the difference between a smooth application and weeks of delays.

Who Qualifies for an Indian Medical Visa?

You are eligible for an Indian Medical Visa if you are travelling to India for:

  • Treatment at a recognised private or government hospital
  • Consultations with a specialist, even if surgery may be deferred
  • Ayurvedic or other traditional Indian medical treatments (with documentation)
  • Follow-up visits after a prior treatment in India

Citizens of most countries in Central Asia, Africa, and the Middle East are eligible. The visa is not available to nationals of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan via the standard online route — separate arrangements apply for those nationalities.

Step-by-Step Application Process

1
Obtain your hospital invitation letter

Your treating hospital must issue a formal letter confirming your appointment, diagnosis, planned treatment, and estimated duration. Global Health Bridge coordinates this letter directly with the hospital on your behalf — it is typically issued within 2–3 business days of your case being accepted.

2
Gather your documents

Required documents include: valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), recent passport-size photograph, hospital invitation letter, medical reports or diagnosis documents from your home doctor, completed visa application form (available at indianvisaonline.gov.in), and proof of financial means (bank statement).

3
Complete the online application

Fill in the online visa application at the Indian government's official visa portal. Select "Medical" as the visa category. Upload your photograph and supporting documents. Pay the applicable visa fee (varies by nationality, typically USD 25–80).

4
Submit at your nearest Indian Embassy or Consulate

Book a biometric appointment at the Indian Embassy or Visa Application Centre (VAC) in your country. Bring your original documents plus printed copies. In most Central Asian and African capitals, processing time is 5–10 business days after biometric submission.

5
Receive and verify your visa

Once approved, verify that the visa type reads "MEDICAL" and that the validity period and number of entries match your expected treatment timeline. If your treatment is expected to exceed the visa validity, GHB can arrange an extension through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in India.

The Medical Attendant Visa (MED-X)

India's MED-X visa allows up to two family members or companions to accompany the patient. The application process is identical to the MED Visa, with the addition of a letter confirming the relationship to the patient. GHB coordinates both the patient and attendant visa applications simultaneously to ensure everyone travels together. We strongly recommend that at least one attendant accompanies you, particularly for major surgeries.

Common Mistakes That Delay Visa Approval

  • Incomplete medical documentation: The visa officer needs to see a clear diagnosis. Vague letters like "the patient needs medical attention" are routinely rejected. Your hospital letter must specify the condition and proposed treatment.
  • Applying too early or too late: Apply no more than 3 months before your treatment date, and allow at least 15 business days for processing. Last-minute applications create unnecessary stress.
  • Wrong visa category: Applying on a tourist visa and then seeking medical treatment is not recommended — it can complicate insurance claims and extensions.
  • Passport validity oversight: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned return date. Renew it before applying if necessary.

How Global Health Bridge Handles the Process for You

The visa process is one of the most confusing and stressful parts of organising medical travel. Global Health Bridge manages it entirely on your behalf:

  • We obtain the official hospital invitation letter directly from the treating department
  • We prepare a complete document checklist specific to your nationality and embassy
  • We guide you through the online application form step by step
  • We advise on appointment booking at your nearest Indian Embassy or VAC
  • If your treatment extends beyond your visa validity, we arrange the FRRO extension in India

Let us handle your entire visa process — at no extra charge

The Best Hospitals in India for International Patients (JCI & NABH Accredited)

April 10, 2026 · 7 min read

When travelling abroad for medical treatment, nothing matters more than the quality and safety of the hospital you choose. For international patients, the most reliable indicators of hospital quality are independent accreditations — specifically, JCI (Joint Commission International) and NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals). Understanding what these accreditations mean, and which hospitals hold them, is the foundation of safe medical travel to India.

What Is JCI Accreditation — and Why Does It Matter?

The Joint Commission International (JCI) is the global arm of the Joint Commission, the same body that accredits the most prestigious hospitals in the United States. JCI accreditation represents the gold standard in international healthcare quality — it assesses over 1,000 measurable standards across patient care, safety protocols, infection control, clinical governance, and organisational management.

A JCI-accredited hospital in India is held to the same standards as top hospitals in New York, London, or Singapore. The accreditation is re-evaluated every three years through rigorous on-site surveys, meaning it cannot be obtained once and forgotten. As of 2026, fewer than 100 hospitals in India hold JCI accreditation — making it a meaningful differentiator, not a marketing label.

What Is NABH Accreditation?

NABH — the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers — is India's own national quality standard for hospitals, operated under the Quality Council of India. It is specifically tailored to Indian healthcare contexts and has become the baseline quality benchmark for any reputable private hospital in the country. NABH accreditation covers patient rights, clinical care, infection control, human resources, and facility management. Many of India's best hospitals hold both JCI and NABH accreditation — the combination provides a dual layer of quality assurance.

Global Health Bridge Partner Hospitals

All five hospitals in the Global Health Bridge network are JCI or NABH accredited and have established international patient departments with dedicated coordinators and language support.

How We Select and Vet Our Hospital Partners

Global Health Bridge does not simply list any accredited hospital. Our selection criteria include:

  • Active JCI or NABH accreditation with no recent sanctions
  • A functioning international patient department with multilingual support
  • Transparent, fixed-price treatment quotations for international patients
  • Verified outcome data and surgeon credentials
  • Positive patient feedback over a minimum of 12 months of referrals

Never Use an Unaccredited Hospital for Medical Travel

India has thousands of private hospitals — the majority of which are not internationally accredited. While many provide excellent routine care, treating patients without the quality assurance of JCI or NABH in complex cases is a significant risk. Unaccredited hospitals are not subject to the same infection control audits, surgical outcome monitoring, or patient rights standards. For international patients who lack local knowledge and networks, an adverse outcome at an unaccredited facility can leave you with no recourse and no support system. Global Health Bridge will never refer a patient to an unaccredited facility.
